A NUMBER of people in the Pembroke area have been left without an up-to-date BT phonebook, after around 150 were dumped on the side of the road.

The pile of books was discovered underneath a county council ‘no fly tipping’ sign near Bowett Woods, between Monkton and Hundleton, on Saturday afternoon.

Photographs of the discarded books were posted on Facebook page ‘Hidden Pembrokeshire’.

A spokesman for BT said: “We were very concerned to hear of books having been left in this way.

“We have contacted the company responsible for distributing the books in this area and asked them to arrange collection.

“If anybody in this area has not received a book, they should contact us on 0800 833 400 and we will arrange for a book to be sent to them free of charge.

“BT delivers about 20 million Phone Books in the UK every year.”

Good luck with getting this sorted out, as when Saundersfoot Community Council complained to BT about directories left all over peoples drives and hedges - no-one cared!

I saw the same idiots just throwing the BT books out the car window as they were driving past my house. I had to pick mine up off the path.

Does anyone actually use them these days? They are so small and thin these days. People are presumably ex-directory and businesses dont pay to advertise in the Yellow Pages.
I look for everything on Google.

I agree with Andrew, when I received ours last week I thought this is a complete waste of money. Make the book available online?

I don't think I looked at last year's book, and provably won't look at this year's.

I suspect 95% of the population feel the same?
