TWO different groups of Pembrokeshire textile artists have come together to showcase a stunning, colourful, and highly skilled exhibition at the Waterfront Gallery in Milford Haven Docks.

The Pembrokeshire Embroiderers’ Guild and the Ladies in Stitches groups are showing a range of items including large and small patchwork quilts, delicately embroidered pictures, advent calendars, babies’ cot covers, covered notebooks, coiled pots, and more.

The Pembrokeshire Branch of the Guild was formed more than 40 years ago and currently has a membership of 24 who meet on the second Thursday of the month for a social stitching session in Bloomfield Centre, Narberth from 12pm till 4pm where it welcomes new members.

The Ladies in Stitches began life in 1996 at Pembroke Dock but now also meet up at the Bloomfield Centre once a month. Joan Scourfield, one of the original members explained, “We now have eleven faithful members who meet up for mutual fabric adulation, manipulation, education and celebration each month.”

Various members will be giving free demonstrations to which everyone is welcome from 2pm till 4pm during the course of the exhibition.

On Tuesday, October 29, there will be silk fibre work, on Thursday, October 31 quilting, on Saturday, November 2 embroidery selection, and Tuesday, November 12 stitch work.

The exhibition, which was opened by renowned textile artist Audrey Walker last week, continues until November 16 and the gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10.30am till 4.30pm.
