ON Thursday, May 1 Fluellen Theatre Company presents Bertolt Brecht's The Resistable Rise Of Arturo Ui at Theatr Gwaun.

Arturo Ui is a small-time gangster in 1930`s Chicago, and like Al Capone and John Dillinger before him, he wants to make it big. So what better way than by taking over, by foul means of course, the green grocery concession?

The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui is a savage and witty parable of the rise of Hitler which constantly poses the question "how could he have possibly been allowed to succeed?" and consistently demonstrates "like this."

Fluellen`s artistic director, Peter Richards has directed many Brecht plays and rates this one amongst the very best.

He said: “Brecht achieves the near-impossible in this play by making us laugh loud and long at this gang of buffoons, without at all diminishing the horror of their real-life Nazi prototypes”.

James Rockey stars in the demanding title role in a production that is touring Wales.

This is a real treat for Pembrokeshire to see one of Brecht's finest plays superbly performed by the Swansea Grand's house company, which is "

renowned for its ability to present classical theatrical works in a manner which blows away the cobwebs whilst preserving the integrity of the original".

The play starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 or £5 for students and can be reserved at the Theatr Gwaun Box Office.
