I VISITED the Kingdom of the Elves at Bluestone with my nephew last week, and despite it still being November, I couldn’t help but be overcome by festive cheer.

Our magical journey started in the Wish Workshop, where Elf Wishy was in the middle of sorting letters to Santa. One of them was from a little boy called Charlie, whose Christmas wish was to have his very own elf toy.

The children in our group were enlisted to make Charlie’s wish come true and were dressed as little elves before entering the Elf Workshop.

The first stop was U-Toy-Pia; the place where toys are not only made, but brought to life.

Elf Abracadabra put Charlie’s elf toy together with the help of the children, who also enjoyed using magical pens to paint on the walls.

From there we went to the rather chilly Fro-zone, where Elf Frost showed how the elves make presents shiny and new. The children played games finding snowballs and helped bring a sleeping snowman to life.

After we were defrosted we found ourselves in the illusion room with Elf Smally Biggs. He explained that we had accidentally shrunk ourselves and were stuck beneath the floorboards, fending off the likes of the maid with her Henry Hoover and soaking mop.

The children enjoyed a ride on the giant button before moving onto the Puzzle Box with Elf Rubix, where they were challenged with colourful games and puzzles before putting Charlie’s elf toy in a box ready for Christmas day.

The final room was the Present Party, where everyone threw some dance moves with with Elf Snazzy-Sneaks and DJ Elf Boy Slim. The children were congratulated on following the journey of Charlie’s wish and were presented with their elf ears before having an 'elfie' taken.

The experience lasted about an hour and a half and I can safely say that all the children (and the adults) thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

I would certainly recommend the Elf Workshop for instilling some festive cheer and getting the kids excited for Christmas. I have been to the other Kingdom of the Elves, and I would say this is the best yet. The six rooms are superbly decorated and the elves are larger than life characters.

Kingdom of the Elves runs until January 4. For more information and ticket prices visit www.bluestonewales.com
