Tonight one of America’s best known country and bluegrass performers, Corrine West, will be on stage at the Queens Hall, Narberth.

A musician since she dropped out of school at 15 and joined a group of artists and musicians travelling around the US in an old school bus, there is a hint of the idyllic hippy to Corrine.

Her stunning debut album was released in 2004 and she has been growing in popularity ever since, bringing a heady mix of country, bluegrass, folk and Americana to more and more people.

Corrine is back in the UK this October following a hugely successful tour earlier this year.

She will be accompanied by guitar and pedal steel maestro Henry Nagle, to wow audiences with songs from her sensational second release, Second Sight.

She has regularly been compared to Natalie Merchant and Mary Chapin Carpenter as her voice shares the velvety resonance of both, although Corrine possesses a power and hypnotism of her own.

The following week the Queens Hall hosts international saxophonist Snake Davis, who plays jazz, soul, pop, classical and more.

Snake and his band will perform on Thursday, October 16th and his energy is sure to be infectious.

Snake Davis spent his formative years in Newport, Gwent. It was here where, from the age of six, that his primary school singing teacher encouraged and nurtured the talents of the boy soprano, coaxing him on to win eisteddfods and stir emotions in churches and at festivals.

Following the inevitable change in voice, Snake rediscovered his — through the saxophone.

Snake said: “ My interest in and love and passion for music didn’t come from my parents, as many people assume. Sometimes I’m not sure where it came from, maybe largely from somewhere inside me. But one thing I’ve come to realise more and more as I get older is that I had some fantastic inspiring teachers, dating right back to singing in primary school and they played a huge part in shaping my career!”
