IN THE words of Jamie Adams, he clearly believes he provides strong political leadership and Bryn Parry Jones contributes equally strong professional guidance – this, he says, is the bedrock for the success of Pembrokeshire County Council.
In everyday parlance, aside from noting self satisfied tone of our leader’s remarks, it really is time for Jamie to ‘wake up and smell the coffee’.
As your contributor William Rees commented recently (I paraphrase), most of the regulatory bodies in Wales, including the Welsh Assembly Government, are seriously concerned about the ‘goings-on’ in PCC.
It may well be that the pension sleight of hand is unlawful, but is the real issue is that if Bryn Parry Jones was appointed as head of the paid service on the grounds of being a management genius; then why, most ask, have the county council’s two major departments, Education and Social Services, been on the government’s naughty chair?
I know absolutely nothing about management theory – I have never read the book – but I found the juxtaposition of your leading article ‘A mockery of democracy’ and the adjoining farewell to Danny Fellows very telling.
Danny contributed to this community, he was selfless and well deserving of your tribute. I am sure your readers can work out the counterpoint themselves.
