THE apparent underestimated impact of the recent Scottish referendum not so much on Scotland, but the whole nation, is not in line with the views of the vast majority of the people not only Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but England as well.

The Westminster government got it wrong by allowing the referendum - which can be levelled at the Prime Minister - and it is going to lead to the demise of the union and the carve up of the UK and lead to home rule in each country and as suggested by the Queen she will be the last monarch to reign over this great nation of ours. As I said in a previous letter ‘we are a well governed nation and the envy of the world’.

Our system of voting is on the decline and we are not producing the leaders that we should.

When we had devolution in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland only 25% of the electorate voted for it and I am convinced, and I have figures to prove it, that two thirds of the population were against devolution and the figure is probably higher today, but they chose not to vote.

I am pro unionist, Westminster and the Royal family, and we look to Westminster and our national papers to take a lead.

Time is not on our side and a no vote in Scotland was something to celebrate, but created more problems than it solved.

We cannot turn the clock back, but the cost is going to be very high as we are playing into the hands of the nationalist and other extremists and I do not want to be able to say in the future ‘I did warn you’.
