Eleanor Clegg’s claim (Western Telegraph, November 12) that investing in renewable energy projects in Pembrokeshire would make our children and grandchildren’s future more secure is ideological nonsense.
If Ms Clegg’s claim is in the context of Pembrokeshire’s economy, it’s absurd because sustainable economies are created through trade rather than transient subsidies.
History tells us that economies based on subsidies eventually collapse due to economic or political pressures and all Ms Clegg is doing is giving false hope to Pembrokeshire people.
On the other hand, if Ms Clegg is referring to global CO2 emissions and their perceived dire consequences, it is ridiculous to suggest that a few dozen renewable energy projects in Pembrokeshire would have any impact.
That is firmly in the hands of China, US, India and the Russian Federation.
