With regard to the difficulty of stopping smoking, I would like to say how I stopped about 20 years ago.

After a few false starts, I was helped eventually by amber- coloured cigarette holders from the chemist.

It was a big shock to see a black tarry substance on the holders instead of being down inside me.

Common sense told me that I would be utterly stupid to continue smoking.

So as well as being helped physically and emotionally it was a case of using ones willpower in a big way.

You do feel proud of yourself at the end of the day I must say and I’m glad to share my story as a nonsmoker.
