I wish to respond to the comments of the Labour candidate on the perceived lack of security at the Port of Pembroke.

it shows that Labour is so irrelevant in Pembrokeshire that they have to resort to scare mongering. Contrast his words with the action by Plaid Cymru’s Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire candidate Simon Thomas.

Assembly Member Simon Thomas has met with the Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys where they discussed anti-terrorism measures across Dyfed Powys. Mr Thomas has also had regular meetings with the Police to discus the terrorism threat in Pembrokeshire and has every confidence in the police defending the citizens of Pembrokeshire.

On what basis does the Labour candidate feel he is anti-terror expert? His public comments are frankly laughable.

I understand that there is an election taking place next May, but to use this as an obvious election gimmick is deplorable. For heavens sake, if you are concerned, contact the authorities directly. The threat is real enough without irresponsible individuals drawing attention in public to an alleged security issue.

County Councillor Michael Williams.
