AS A steelworker from Port Talbot visiting family in Pembrokeshire, I couldn’t believe what I was reading in a recent Western Telegraph.
Carmarthenshire council buying 21 German-made lorries?
How much British steel has gone into these – answer zero. Who is responsible for this purchase? Don’t these people have any patriotism about them? Don’t they ever think?
At Port Talbot and any steel plant in the UK we need to see and make every bit of steel we can to protect jobs and the local economy. It’s the same with many local government purchases, no thought is given, a small-minded approach and jobs are lost. Don’t they ever learn. Don’t they care?
