After months of hiding under winter clothing we are now heading towards spring (at last) and our poor neglected bodies are in need of a little TLC! There are lots of little things you can do without having to spend a fortune.

So give your body a kick start by body brushing before you shower or bathe, just two minutes from the soles of your feet working up to your shoulders will get rid of dry and flaky skin as well as boosting your lymphatic system, it also really perks you up and leaves your skin tingling all over. Do this every day and you’ll also see results on cellulite, bumps on your skin and if you have sluggish circulation it will also help, especially on your thighs and bum. You can buy good quality cactus bristle body brushes in most good chemists now or from your beauty therapist, look after it and it will last for years.

For the next tip you need to be a bit brave! Cold Showers! Have your normal shower then turn the temperature to cold and stand under it for the count of five, then jump out and dry off. Doing this will give your circulation a boost, improve your skin tone and also helps detox. It’s a great way to start your day as it gives you a real boost or energy.

Your body will look and feel much better if you apply moisturiser regularly, ideally after a bath or shower. If you are overweight your skin will tend to be drier, especially on your legs, you’ll really see a change in your skin if you use a moisturiser or body oil, so doing this one little thing will really help and you can always make it into a mini massage to help your circulation too. You don’t have to spend a fortune on a body moisturiser but you will see a change in your skin quite quickly.

Ladies you will need to de-fuzz coming into the warmer months, those hairy legs will have to come out of hibernation soon! There is no right or wrong way and I think if you like shaving then that’s fine, waxing isn’t for everyone. Depilatory creams are an easy way to remove un-wanted hair, but I do think you have to be careful as you can get chemical burns if you leave them on too long. Waxing is still popular, but I do think laser hair removal is the future and is now becoming more and more accessible, it’s still expensive and not able to guarantee the hair won’t come back, you’ll still need regular treatments for up keep, I don’t know of anywhere in Pembrokeshire that is offering this, but please do let me know if you do.

Men may also want to attend to any back or maybe chest hair in the summer months as it has become fashionable to be either hair free or to have it shave short.

I believe that everyone’s body is beautiful, and there is no such thing as the perfect body as even models have issues! The most important thing is to just embrace what you have and make the most of it and be confident as it always shines through.
