I think I have caught the cycling bug again. After decades of wearing out various armchairs, I feel it is time to exercise other parts of me, along with my backside. I have mountain bikes that have been out a few times. My wife kept going on about getting the bikes out and making use of our local cycle paths. Always being one to jump in with both feet, I suggested we could cycle to Germany to visit out eldest son and his family. He lives somewhere below Hamburg. It’s around 900 miles from Milford Haven. We are only at the planning stage, in fact I took the front wheel off my wife’s bike to repair a puncture, that was last April, I have fixed the puncture but have not got around to refitting the wheel to the bike, all in good time I think. I still remember how painful cycling was from my younger days, especially around the crown jewels area (lack of blood flow). Being a lot heavier now, I have taken the precaution of buying a couple of special comfort seats, see enclosed photograph. The man, who was selling them, said they would alleviate the groinal area problem, sounded good to me, and the offer of a handful of magic beans was too much of a good offer to miss. They are weird looking seats, but anything is worth trying to protect ones nether regions. As I mentioned, this trip is in the planning stage, I have had many ideas that don’t get past the planning stage. This one will though, I think I will get a couple of the old fashioned “Sturmey Archer” 3 speed bikes, I am not really impressed with multi geared bikes. In fact if anyone as one or two for sale please contact me through the blog comments, it does not matter how old or what condition they are in, plenty of time to “eventually” put them right if necessary. I am currently designing a basket for Charlie the Pug to travel in, he is all for this 2 wheel adventure. I don’t know how he will cope with the German language he is rubbish at understanding English especially “No Charlie", but then again he is Chinese
