Today we had a day out at Broad Haven and Barafundle beaches. My son and his family were over on a holiday from Germany, he had never seen these two beautiful beaches, and said he would like to visit them. We had to use two vehicles to accommodate the eight of us. On arrival on Bosherston car park, we were informed by the National Trust operative, that it would cost £4.00 for my sons 7 seat car and £6.00 for my Transit van with two seats, £10 to park for the day. What a Rip Off. I questioned the tax collector about this amount and he responded with “The National Trust is a charity, we do not get any funding from the government, we have to charge this amount for parking, to pay for the maintenance of the Park”. In the present economic situation, I find it hard to believe that anyone would charge this amount for parking in the middle of nowhere, surely these extortionate rates of parking fees, will deter visitors to Pembrokeshire from returning, nobody likes being ripped off, especially when most of us, are financially struggling to make ends meet.
