Car cruise in memory of Ben
3:50pm Friday 22nd February 2013 in News
Hundreds of people are expected to attend a car cruise tomorrow (Saturday) in memory of Ben Bowen, who died in a road accident on Valentine’s Day.
The memorial cruise will travel from Haverfordwest to the scene of the collision in Letterston before making its way to Broad Haven.
It is hoped the event will help raise money towards funeral costs.
Those taking part are set to meet at Withybush aerodrome at 2pm, before setting off at 2.30pm for Letterston.
There, a minute’s silence will be observed before the convoy travels to Broad Haven.
Anyone wishing to attend is asked to enter the aerodrome via gate three, which is just past the main entrance.
Ben’s mum Sally Newton said the support she had received from the local community and further afield had been “overwhelming.”
She described her son as the “most wonderful person you’d ever meet” and “a star to everybody”.
She said the whole community had offered support along with “hundreds” of Ben’s friends both in Pembrokeshire and in Swindon, Wooton Bassett and Lyneham where he had also lived.
Around 60 of his former school mates from Wooton Bassett met on Friday to remember their friend, with Ben having moved back to Pembrokeshire two years ago.
Broad Haven football club observed a minute’s silence before their game on Saturday and are also planning a memorial cup.
