Nominations have been announced for the crucial Pembrokeshire County Council by-election in the Burton electoral division next month.

When nominations closed at noon today (Wednesday), the names of four candidates had been received for the election on Thursday, April 11th.

They are:

• Jon Harvey of 21 Merlins Cross, Pembroke (Independent).

• Robin Howells, The Willows, 5, New Wells Road, Hill Mountain, Houghton (Labour).

• Rob Summons,19 West Street, Rosemarket (Independent).

• Robin Wilson, Swn-Y-Gwynt, Ashdale Lane, Llangwm (Conservative).

Candidates have until noon on Monday, 18th March, to withdraw their nomination.

The vacancy arose following the retirement on March 1st of County Councillor David Wildman who was the Member for Burton and Cabinet Member for Health; Well-Being and the Voluntary Sector.

Cllr Wildman's departure means that the current make-up of the council has 30 seats held by the ruling Independent Plus Group and 29 by the combined opposition groups and unafilliated members.
