A construction worker who died after falling 30 feet at the Mustang Marine site in Pembroke Dock last Tuesday has been named.

Stephen John Greenaway, from the Telford area, suffered serious injuries after falling from machinery at the Pembroke Port site.

The 50 year-old self employed construction worker was flown to Heath Hospital in Cardiff by air ambulance just before 9am, but later died.

Mustang Marine managing director Kevin Lewis said it was with “deep sadness” that the marine construction company received the tragic news from Dyfed-Powys Police.

He said: “This has been the most tragic of incidents we could imagine. We are a very close community at Pembroke Dock and the Port of Milford Haven as a whole, and this incident has been felt by us all.

“Our deepest sympathy goes to the family and friends of the gentleman who passed away, together with my colleagues we are all saddened by the news of his death.”

Mr Lewis said that Mustang Marine and the Port of Milford Haven are working with police and the Health and Safety Executive, who are carrying out an investigation into the incident.

Alec Don, Chief Executive of the Port of Milford Haven, which owns and operates Pembroke Port, added: “This is a most tragic incident, and on behalf of all my colleagues at the Port I would like to extend our most heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of the man who died.

"Whilst he was not employed by the Port of Milford Haven, I am certain everyone who works in the close knit community in and around Pembroke Port will be deeply saddened by the news of his death.”

The incident happened just before 9am on Tuesday, June 4th. There were no other casualties.
