TOURISM bosses attended the quarterly meeting of the Destination Pembrokeshire Partnership (DPP) on Wednesday, September 18.

DPP launched its Destination Management Plan (DMP) in May 2013, with the keynote speaker Simon Calder reinforcing the need for organisations to work together.

The Partnership, which has been established to better define roles and responsibilities within the tourism industry, is made up of Pembrokeshire Tourism, Pembrokeshire County Council, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and PLANED.

It is currently working on the draft Action Plan, which once complete will go out to public consultation.

The meeting also discussed the importance of developing and delivering an events strategy for Pembrokeshire, building on the success of major events like Ironman Wales, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series and Pembrokeshire Fish Week.

Tim Brace, Chairman of Pembrokeshire Tourism, said: "I strongly believe that major events drive in visitors to our area, supporting the local economy, trade and tourism industry.

“An events strategy for the county will effectively keep the momentum going enabling us to successfully host additional up and coming events in Pembrokeshire".
