A Saundersfoot man is to stand trial accused of causing grievous bodily harm.
James Robert Toulouse, aged 22, of Bonvilles Close, appeared before Judge Keith Thomas at Swansea crown court on Friday for a preliminary hearing.
Brian Simpson, prosecuting, said he understood Toulouse was willing to admit assault but denied intending to cause GBH.
There was an allegation of kicking, he added, but Toulouse accepted only punching.
Forensic examination of footwear was underway.
Toulouse will attend a plea and case management hearing on February 21.
Judge Thomas ruled that if the plea was one of not guilty then a four day trial would begin on April 8.
Toulouse was remanded in custody to Swansea prison meanwhile.
