THEATR Gwaun is preparing to host The Dylan Thomas Film Festival as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the poet’s birth.
It starts on Friday, September 26 with a screening of the 2008 film The Edge of Love, starring Fishguard’s own Matthew Rhys. It tells the story of the “passion and pathos” of Thomas through the lives of the women who loved him.
The following day there will be a special Under Milk Wood film location walk starting at Fishguard Library. It will be led by the 1972 film’s screenwriter/director Andrew Sinclair, and will feature a local group of actors reading extracts from the text.
The festival continues back at Theatr Gwaun that evening with a screening of the fascinating and self-explanatory documentary Dylan on Dylan, with an introduction by Andrew Sinclair, and followed by the book launch of ‘Under Milk Wood Revisited: The Wales of Dylan Thomas’ by Mark Davis and Tony Earnshaw.
The main event takes place on Sunday, September 28 with the screening of Under Milk Wood itself, which will be hosted by Tony Earnshaw, and followed by the unmissable opportunity of a question and answer session with Andrew Sinclair.
Tickets are available from the Theatr Gwaun box office.
