Tenby’s all weather lifeboat (ALB) launched last night (Wednesday) to the aid of a historic ship in difficulty.
The 60 foot wooden sailing vessel Silvery Light had suffered a fire in rough seas five miles off St Govans, shortly before 8.40pm.
The crew of four had managed to extinguish the fire but the 130-year-old vessel, originally built as a herring drifter, was now disabled. The lifeboat made best speed in difficult conditions towards the casualty vessel.
The lifeboat then took the vessel under tow to Milford Haven, where it was safely moored just before midnight. The lifeboat then returned to Tenby arriving at 01:05am.
