A 60-YEAR-old woman was rescued from Musselwick Sands near Marloes by helicopter on Saturday, after tearing a ligament in her leg.

The woman, who was on holiday in the area, was unable to walk due to her injury, and coastguards from Dale and Broad Haven were called to help her at around 3pm.

Due to the steep and slippery path, paramedics were unable to reach the woman, and Rescue 169 helicopter from RAF Chivenor was called to assist.

The helicopter arrived at around 4.15pm, and airlifted the woman from the beach, so she could be taken to hospital by ambulance.

Diana Ford, 28, from Marloes, was walking nearby with a friend, and saw the whole rescue take place.

“It was really dramatic to see it all happening,” she said.

“I felt really sorry for the lady, she looked like she was in a lot of pain.”
