The owner of Goodwick post office stepped in a Santa’s little helper last night (Thursday) as a sweet shortage threatened to ruin the run up to Christmas.

Father Christmas visited Goodwick Square as part of the traditional Christmas lights switch on.

A throngs of families gathered, warmed by mulled wine provided free by the Glendower, and Christmas tunes from Goodwick Brass Band and Goodwick School choir.

However, Father Christmas proved so popular that towards the end of the evening he began to run low on festive goody bags to hand out to eagerly awaiting children.

Volunteers ran over to the town’s post office to explain their predicament and were granted free reign over the sweet shelves by owner John Moverley.

They went back to Santa’s sleigh with enough sweets to fill a further 30 bags and keep the Children of Goodwick happy.

“It’s a great event for the community, it’s like the start of Christmas” said Mr Moverley. “We were happy to help out. We always try to do things to help out the community.”
