A CLEAN up operation has begun after a mini tornado ripped through part of Haverfordwest.
Fire crews from Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and St Davids were called out to Prendergast at around 7pm last night (Tuesday).
Crew manager Ron Arthur said: “Last night we had 17 properties in Prendergast affected by the storm. We had six properties with their utilities roofs lifted off, which we’ve made safe.
“The firefighters have come around this morning to make sure everything is safe because we’ve got high winds coming in again this afternoon at 3pm.”
Dilys Griffiths from Scotchwell View was among the storm victims.
She said: “I was inside watching Emmerdale and then all of a sudden I heard a big bang.
“It sounded like a train ripping through the house or a massive roar. I went to stand up but I couldn’t. My husband Philip came down the stairs shaking like a leaf. We went outside and saw the roof in the garden.
“It was lucky no one was out there.”
Their next door neighbour Stacey Coles said: “First we had thunder, then hail, then a big bang.
“My partner told me it was just the table outside, but I said there is no way the noise is just the table.
“I walked outside the door at around 7.10pm and there was the roof on the floor.”
Two people were taken to hospital suffering from shock following the incident.
