POLICE officers are urging dog owners to keep their pets under control while out walking following a horrific attack on sheep that left 28 dead.
The incident happened sometime between Friday December 12 and Monday December 15, but information has just been released.
The sheep were killed in a field between Walton West and Broad Haven
There were between 50-60 Cheviot cross ewe lambs on winter tack in the field.
PC Gerwyn Davies said: "This has caused a big loss to the owner of the livestock who is from Aberdare and upset to the local landowner."
PC Davies said he thought the owners of the dogs involved will have known something had happened due to the amount of blood involved.
He added: "Land owners are reminded that under the Animal Act 1971, where they have defended their livestock, this act allows the killing of dogs worrying livestock but they must notify their local Police Station within 48 hours of the killing."
