An investigation has begun following the death of a man in police custody in Haverfordwest yesterday (Saturday).
The investigation will be carried out by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
“The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has begun an independent investigation after a 53-year-old man died in police custody in Haverfordwest on Saturday 31st January", said a spokesman for the IPCC.
“IPCC investigators were deployed to the scene and the post-incident procedure.
“The investigation is in its early stages and we will provide a further update in due course.”
A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "Dyfed Powys Police can confirm that on the morning of Saturday, January 31, 2015, a 53 year old man died whilst in police custody at Haverfordwest Police Station.
"In line with policy, the Force has referred the incident to the Independent Police Complaints Commission who are conducting an independent investigation into this matter.
"We pass our condolences to the family of the deceased and our thoughts are with them at this time.
"Dyfed Powys Police is providing full cooperation and support to the IPCC investigation."
