SWAT (Save Withybush Action Team) is calling for members of the public to remain vigilant over health service cuts.

Meetings, marches and rallies have been organised throughout the county and Wales in the campaign to maintain NHS services in Pembrokeshire and the rest of the country.

The calendar of upcoming events includes; a national demonstration with a local demonstration outside Withybush Hospital at 10am on Saturday, March 3rd; an all-Wales rally on March 6th, with a march from Withybush Hospital to Picton Place starting at 8.40am. Campaigners can then travel by bus to join the all-Wales demonstration at the Welsh Assembly. A live debate on healthcare between political representatives from all parties is due to be held in Pembroke on April 28th.

Haverfordwest town councillor and SWAT spokesman, Cherie Harvey, said: "We get the impression that people believe that Withybush Hospital is saved and I just want to highlight that yes, the building may be saved, but the services are far from safe.

"We now have to urge the public to watch out for all the public meetings with SWAT and come along because it is going to be too late afterwards."

Cllr Harvey said the fear still is that services will be transferred to other hospitals in the future.

"We are asking the public to be vigilant and come out at the polling stations for the assembly elections to vote for those who will save our services.

"SWAT is non-political, I want to stress that no matter what party was in at this moment we would still take this course of action."
