PEMBROKE’S castle and streets have seen a touch of Hollywood this week, with major stars seen in the town as part of shooting for a feature film based on the bestselling book Me Before You.

Filming in the town started on May 15 for the production of British writer Jojo Moyes’ smash hit bestselling romantic novel, and runs through to today, May 20.

Big draws for film fans were The Hunger Games' Sam Claflin and Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke.

Other roles in the film of the 2012 novel include Brendan Coyle of Downton Abbey and Matthew Lewis of the Harry Potter films.

Emilia Clarke plays Lou, a small-town girl caught between dead-end jobs, and Will, played by Sam Claflin, a successful man, wheelchair-bound after an accident, who can find no reason to live, until they meet when he hires her as his caretaker.

The town is no stranger to location shooting; recently the castle was used to film scenes for a film version of hit BBC 3 sitcom Bad Education.

Concerns had previously been raised by traders about possible closure of the town’s Main Street during filming.

However, disruption had been kept to a minimum, town councillor Keith Nicholas said.

He added: “It’s good PR for the county, and genuinely no major problems.”
