An incident at Penblewin on the A40 road on Sunday evening led to a man being arrested by police.
Officers said that the man was seen running in the centre of the road, and traffic was halted for a short time in the interests of safety.
Reports that a man had deliberately driven his own vehicle into others on the road were not confirmed by police.
A Dyfed-Powys police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to the Penblewin area at 22.10pm on Sunday June 28 following concern raised for the safety of a male who was seen running in the middle of the road.
"Police attended and detained the man for his own safety."
