A MUSICAL maestro who has inspired countless pupils has enjoyed one of the high notes of his career.

Over 70 former students of Paul Rapi came from all over the UK on Thursday to join the Greenhill Orchestra in its final concert under his baton on home ground.

Mr Rapi - who is also the current mayor of Tenby - is retiring after 27 years as head of Greenhill School’s music department.

The ex-pupils - whose appearance had been kept secret from their past teacher - joined the orchestra in two renditions of one of its signature pieces, Mission Impossible.

The concert, sat the De Valence Pavilion, concluded with the audience and orchestra combining in Thank You For the Music.

School head teacher Jan Kingston thanked the ‘charismatic, enigmatic and sometimes eccentric’ Mr Rapi, telling him: “It is a fabulous role that you have played in so many lives."
