Depressed over the break-up of his marriage in 2001, Mark Andrew Baskerville, of 6 Trem-y-Garn, Panteg, Goodwick, had spoken of suicide to one of his daughters, an inquest heard yesterday.

But when the 39-year-old agricultural contractor texted a close friend saying he had taken an overdose, he was not taken seriously, an inquest heard on Thursday.

On December 20th Mr Baskerville's next-door neighbour heard loud banging noises from his home, and he apologised, explaining that he was moving furniture.

His daughter went to his home, but could not find her father, although she did not go upstairs, where police later found him hanging from a rope suspended through the loft hatch.

Recording a verdict of death from cardiac arrest as a result of hanging, deputy Pembrokeshire coroner Mark Layton said; "He was suffering from depression for which he had been prescribed anti-depressant drugs."
