THE blooming marvellous efforts of Fishguard and Goodwick’s residents and businesses were recognised at an awards ceremony earlier this month.

The 2015 Fishguard in Bloom entrants were invited to a special presentation in Town Hall, where the awards were presented by the Mayor, Councillor Richard Grosvenor.

The category winners were as follows:

Hotels and guesthouses: 1st The Ferryboat Inn, Goodwick; 2nd Ivybridge, Goodwick; 3rd The Cartref Hotel, Fishguard.

Public houses: 1st The Glendower Hotel, Goodwick; 2nd The Pendre Inn, Fishguard; 3rd Bennetts Navy Tavern, Fishguard.

Businesses: 1st Fishguard Holiday Park, Fishguard; 2nd Creswells Café, West Street, Fishguard; 3rd The Hair Studio, West Street, Fishguard.

Care homes: 1st St Theresa’s, Fishguard; 2nd Llain Las, Fishguard.

Schools: 1st Ysgol Wdig, Goodwick; 2nd Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Fishguard; 3rd Holy Name Catholic Primary School, Fishguard.

Private houses: 1st Mistral, Bryn Llewelyn, Fishguard; Joint 2nd , Quay House, Quay Street, Lower Town and Sea Point, Bryn Llewelyn, Fishguard.

Private bungalows: 1st Hafan Tawel, Pen Banc, Fishguard; 2nd Maes y Blodall, Park Loktudi, Fishguard; Joint 3rd 8 Heol Cryus, Fishguard, 1 Troed Rhiw, Fishguard.

Communities: 1st Penbanc, Fishguard.

Allotments: 1st Melony Banner, Plot 11; 2nd Nigel Townshend, Plot 5; 3rd Mick and Sally Gulliver, Plot 6.

Cul de sac: 1st Heol Crws, Fishguard; 2nd Clos y Bigney, Fishguard; 3rd Heol Cynan, Fishguard.

The Judges’ Special Award was presented to 2, School Houses, Fishguard and the overall winner was Hafan Tawel, 16, Penbanc, Goodwick.

Speaking at a later Fishguard and Goodwick Town Council meeting, Cllr Grosvenor said the ceremony went well, and commented that local photographer Johnny Morris was a popular winner, although he was slightly reluctant to get in front of the camera for his picture!
