The sun shone down on Pembrokeshire on Sunday to welcome the arrival of an all new event to promote the county and start the Pembrokeshire Motoring Events season for 2016.

The South Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen Bay Run 2016, sponsored by the Western Telegraph, saw just under 200 motor vehicles and motor bikes assembled at the startline.

The entourage set off from the Croft Holiday Park courtesy of Celtic Holiday Parks from 10am onwards in readiness for the start at 11.30am with the lowering of both the Pembrokeshire and Welsh flag's by Cllr Wynne Evans, Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council and Huw Pendleton of Celtic Holiday Parks - blowing the starter's whistle was parade marshal Noel Robinson.

The motorcade of entries was led by a vanguard of motorbikes and Jeff and Sian Edwards,f ounders of the Pembrokeshire County Motoring Events in their two Rovers.

The motorcade followed a stunning 34-mile route via Princess Gate, Tavernspite, Red Roses and along the old A477 before arriving on the outskirts of St Clears.

The convoy continued via Laugharne, Pendine, Amroth and Saundersfoot before crossing the finish line at North Beach, Tenby, were drivers and riders were welcomed by Tenby mayor Cllr Paul Rappi and Cllr Evans.

Jeff and Sian said they were delighted with the turnout and ruled the event a massive success.

“We are delighted to say the event will all happen again next year,” said Jeff.

The couple also extended a warm welcome is extended to everyone taking part in the Western Telegraph Preseli Bluestone Run 2016, in aid of the British Heart Foundation, on Sunday June 12.
