A PEMBROKE mum will be among the thousands of runners taking part in the London Marathon today (Sunday).

Clare Harris will be raising money for children’s charity Barnardos when she takes on the 26.2 mile fundraising run.

Clare started running in 2013, and has completed a number of half marathons as her love for the sport grows.

Her training for London has seen her run 470 miles since October, much of which has been along the “stunning coastline of the Stackpole estate area”.

She also attends the volunteer-run 5k Colby park runs, held on Saturdays, with her two young children.

“I'm raising as much as I can for Barnardos – it’s a fantastic children's charity, which helps transform vulnerable children's lives by giving them the support that they need.

“I'm very proud to be a part of #teambarnardos and the support people have pledged will get me around on the day.

Clare has so far raised £185, but you can add to her total by visiting www.justgiving.com/Clare-Harris9.

As one of the UK's leading children's charities, Barnardo's works with over 200,000 children, young people and their families each year.

It runs more than 900 local projects including counselling for children who have been abused, adoption services, vocational training and disability inclusion groups.

TV coverage of the London marathon 2016 starts at 8.30am on BBC Two, switching to BBC One at 10.30am.
