PEMBROKE Soup’s bi-monthly meeting in February saw four community groups come along to explain what they are doing to benefit people in the community and they explain what they might also need to help them do this.

Pembroke Soup is open to all to come along. It starts at midday and finishes by 1.30pm. The £4 entry includes home- made soups and crusty fresh bread, with money raised going to the chosen groups, if needed.

This month saw the Alzheimer’s Society; Draw Pembroke; Day of Welsh Dance and Pembroke Town Hall Community Projects take part.

Councillor Linda Asman spoke of Pembroke Town Hall Community Projects, and how Pembroke Town Council has sponsored projects that work towards a rejuvenation of Pembroke.

Naomi Shilling of the Alzheimer’s Society came with lots of literature to distribute regarding Alzheimer’s society.

The Alzheimer’s society runs a singing group, Music and Memories on the first and third Friday of the month at Foundry House.

Pam Pickford and daughter, renowned artist Lizzy Stonhold are set to bring the award-winning community project, Coastlines, Come Draw with Me to Pembroke.

This project will show that people have an innate ability to draw.... “ALL are artists”. Pam and Lizzy are looking forward to the launch of their weekly drawing workshops for all ages, levels and abilities. It is set to begin in Pembroke in early June. Mavis Roberts shared the Day of Welsh dance planned for June 10 in Pembroke. This is part of the Four Corners of Wales event - planned across Wales to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Patrick Noel Shuldam-Shaw, to honour his contribution to folk dancing in Wales.

Mavis is planning a day of workshops in Pembroke Town Hall, some which will be for families with children.

The evening will end with a folk evening at The Long House, Freshwater East. Entry by ticket only. Adults £3, accompanied children free.

Voting tickets were counted and funds were distributed accordingly with £95 donated to Day of Welsh Dance and £165 to Draw Pembroke.

The next Pembroke Soup is on April 29, midday-1.30pm at Pembroke Town Hall.
