CRUISE ship The Silver Explorer ran in to mechanical difficulties today, June 10, as it left Pembroke Port, ending up hitting a bouy.
A statement from Milford Haven Port Authority read: “Cruise Vessel Silver Explorer’s departure from Pembroke Port was delayed today due to a mechanical fault on board the vessel.
“The vessel had been making her way out of the Port when the fault occurred. The vessel was quickly brought back to Pembroke Dock Ferry Terminal, and later to berth 1 at Pembroke Port, with the assistance of the high-powered Svitzer tugs available within the Port.
“As a consequence of the fault, the vessel made contact with the ‘Traynor buoy’, which is now no longer in position.
“No-one has been injured. There were some minor delays to other vessels, including the Irish Ferry, but the Port is now operating as normal.”
