A warning has gone out to walkers on the Pembrokeshire coast path about a large snake on the loose.

Pembrokeshire Coast National park said: "The National Park Authority has been notified of sightings of a non-venomous pet snake on the Coast Path, near to St Davids.

"Members of the public are advised to avoid the snake if spotted, however, please notify the Authority on 01646 624800 if a sighting is made."

One of the people who has spotted the snake, then by Solva, was former Wales footballer Ian Walsh.

He tweeted to say he thought the snake was about 7ft long.

Ian Walsh tweeted Dr Rhys Jones, an evolutionary scientist and Cardiff University lecturer.

Dr Jones tweeted Mr Walsh to say he thought the snake would be an escaped or released pet.
