The final of the inaugural Bluestone Foundation League takes at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium tonight (Friday).

After finishing top of the group table in the summer, that included Bluestone themselves, St Clears, Pendine, Narberth, and Carew – it is the West Dragons who will take on the tournament organisers with the Foundation Shield at stake.

The two met earlier in the summer in a game the Pembrokeshire League Division One side won 9-0, but the clash is expected to be much closer this time around - especially given Bluestone have drafted in Swansea City legend Lee Trundle for the evening to help out manager George Rainbow.

Trundle, still playing for Llanelli Town in Welsh League Division One, will also present the trophy to the winning side.

Aside from their previous clash against tonight’s opponents, in their group games Bluestone AFC were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Narberth, won 8-1 against St Clears 2nds, and drew 2-2 at Pendine.

The Dragons meanwhile, who since the summer have parted company with manager Matthew Price and now have players Lee Palmer and Steve Allen currently in charge, beat Narberth 6-2 and Pendine 7-0, and then were given a walkover against St Clears.

Since the group games finished they have begun their league season, kicking off with a 2-1 defeat at home to Merlins Bridge, before beating Clarbeston Road 5-1 on Tuesday night.

Tonight’s game will also round off a summer of fundraising, and again, all money raised from the evening will go to local causes via the Bluestone Foundation. Spectators will be asked to give a minimum donation of £3 that will include a programme and raffle entry.

Amongst the prizes on offer is an overnight spa break at Bluestone National Park Resort, Blue Lagoon family tickets, and a session at the Pembrokeshire Wake Park.

The final will kick off at The Meadow at 7pm.
