THREE new Sea Cadet boats were officially named on Saturday at a ceremony preceding a successful open afternoon.
Local dignitaries attended the event, as well as guest of honour, presenter Sara Edwards, Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed.
The new boats consisted of two toppers and an RS Quest training boat. The toppers were funded by Strumble and Kemes masonic lodges and were named Strumble and Kemes accordingly.
The RS Quest sail training boat was named in memory of John Bradbury who was secretary of the Fishguard’s unit management committee and helped raise £750,000 to renovate the unit’s headquarters.
A plaque in his memory was also unveiled by Fishguard mayor, Janet Wyer.
Fishguard Sea Cadets, celebrates 75 years this year, having been established in 1942. It moved to its present location two years later. To find out more about the organisation visit Fishguard Sea Cadets on Facebook.
