NEW defibrillators that could save the lives of those suffering cardiac arrest have been fitted in Johnston after donations from generous locals.
Two defibrillators have been fitted in the village: one outside K&O Carpets, and the other outside the Vine Inn.
The equipment was fitted as the result of two donations of £1,350 each given by K&O Carpets and Dr Roop Chand Chaudhry, who runs the Meadows care home.
The defibrillators were supplied by Llanelli-based charity CARIAD, and will now be added to a national database so that those in need can find their nearest life-saving equipment.
A cheque for £2,700 was given to CARIAD by Johston Community Council earlier this year.
An open day was held in August giving instructions on how to use the defibrillators, but community councillor Rob Pratt has said more may be held for those interested.
“We are hoping to put a few more up – we could do with another two or three really,” Rob added, saying there were hopes others could be placed near Johnston School, and the surgery.
