A PEMBROKE dock dance school is through to the European and World Championships after trophy wins at a recent competition.

The Kelly Williams School of Dance competed in the 2018 British Street Dance Championships that took place Somerset in March.

"We had a fantastic time competing at the UDO British Championships this year against the best of the best from all over Britain," said Kelly Williams, founder of the dance school.

"The KWSOD dancers worked extremely hard to prepare for this competition and their hard work certainly paid off."

KWSOD entered three teams, the under 14 beginner team 'The Hustlerz' who finished in 2nd place, the over 18 intermediate team 'Khaos' who finished in 4th, and the 'Hip Poppers' who competed in the parent category.

"I would like to give a massive shout out to the parents for all your hard work and reminding your children that the most important thing is to get out there and have fun," Kelly said.

"I am extremely proud of you all and we can't wait to return next year."

The three-day championship saw KWSOD face off against other dance schools from across Britain, with over 2,200 people competing to be crowned British champion of their category.

Throughout the weekend, dancers from KSWOD showed off their routines, including various street dance styles such as popping, locking and breakdance, in a wide range of performance categories, such as solos, duos, one v one and team battles.

The panel of judges included So You Think You Can Dance finalist Lizzie Gough and one of the world's leading break dancers, B-girl Roxy.

KSWOD will now go on to compete in the European Championships in May and the World Championships in August, which sees 10,000 people attend the four-day event.
