A double-glazed window was smashed when a drunk man found himself locked out of a friend’s house, a court has heard.
Ricky Alan Patrick Kinsella, formerly of Fishguard, now care of Briscwm Cottages, St Dogmaels, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, April 17.
Sian Vaughan, prosecuting, told the court that Kinsella returned home drunk while staying at his Fishguard friend’s property on March 27, and smashed a double-glazed bathroom window to gain access.
Mark Layton, defending, told the bench that the house-holder attempted to contact Kinsella by text to tell him to stay elsewhere when he was called away on a family crisis.
The message was never received and Kinsella found himself locked out when he later arrived at the house worse for drink.
Mr Layton said: “He broke the window to get in to have somewhere to sleep for the night.”
“He is very sorry for what happened and accepts he should pay for the damage.”
Kinsella was fined £40 and ordered to pay £100 compensation for the damage to the window.
He will also pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
