Staff at South Hook LNG are preparing for their biggest day as the countdown to the royal visit begins.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of York will attend at the site this afternoon, along with members of the Qatar royal family.

The event is to mark the official inauguration of the liquefied natural gas terminal.

The inauguration event will include speeches and a lunch, before Her Majesty and their Royal Highnesses tour an exhibition of the LNG terminal and meet South Hook employees and members of the local community.

Milford Haven mayor, John Roberts said: "The event will certainly put the final seal on completion of the operation to provide a fifth of the UK’s gas supply from Milford Haven.

"I am very pleased the Queen will be attending the event and I am very much looking forward to meeting her."

The royal family will not, however, be carrying out any other functions while in Pembrokeshire.

The Queen is expected to arrive at the South Hook site at about 11.15am.
