A Haverfordwest man appeared before a crown court judge on Friday to deny causing an affray, only to change his mind an hour later and plead guilty.

Edward George Davies, aged 33, will be sentenced early next month.

Kevin Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court the incident happened on August 24th, the same day that Davies had appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates for attempted burglary.

Davies was given a jail sentence, which was suspended.

His barrister, James Jenkins, said it seemed that people living close to Davies in Fleming Crescent were "not best pleased" to see him return from the court and had hoped he would have been sent straight to jail.

Following the affray, he added, the sentence was in fact activated and Davies was now in Swansea prison.

Davies at first denied the charge of affray and Judge John Diehl listed his trial to start on February 10th.

But an hour later he was brought back into court and this time pleaded guilty.

Davies denied a further offence of assaulting PC Anthony Davies and the charge was withdrawn.
