A Milford Haven man voluntarily told police he had drugs in his house after they spot checked his car, a court heard yesterday (Tuesday).
David Lewis, of 61 Blue Anchor Way, Dale, pleaded guilty to possessing a class B drug.
He was stopped on November 5th as he was driving through Slebech.
Prosecutor Ellie Morgan said: "His vehicle was searched and upon being questioned, he volunteered to police he had cannabis at his home address."
Officers than travelled to his house and seized 3.9 grammes of the substance from his living room and kitchen.
"He said it was for back problems and he used it for pain relief."
Ms Morgan added Lewis, aged 41, had two previous drugs convictions.
Defence lawyer Gareth Lewis handed in a letter from his client’s neighbour which described him as a "reliable character", and also medical evidence of his back problems.
He said Lewis was "very sorry" and deserved credit for co-operating with police upon being stopped.
The presiding magistrate said although the bench sympathised with the defendant’s medical problems, cannabis was still an illegal substance. Lewis was ordered to pay £285 in fines and court costs.
