Officers from Narberth police station have been visiting marts in Whitland and Crymych to give farmers crime prevention advice.
They have also been speaking to them about potential issues that could arise from next year's bovine TB eradication scheme.
They are urging farmers to always ask visitors for identification and to be aware of people attending their farms pretending to be from the Welsh Assembly in order to commit a crime or scope out the farm for further criminal activity Police said they want to make farmers aware of the dangers so that they challenge people who come to their yards and ensure that they have the correct identification documents.
If they feel suspicious about any visitors they should contact their local police station who will follow it up.
