Two winkle pickers who got into trouble off Saddle point were rescued by Fishguard lifeboat on Tuesday.
The men were in a ten foot dinghy and had suffered engine failure while winkling off the rocks between Goodwick and Fishguard.
As evening fell and in miserable, wet and windy conditions, the men tried to row back to Lower Town, however, force eight offshore winds proved too much for them.
A member of the public sounded the alarm and the all weather lifeboat was on scene in a matter of minutes.
The two men were transferred to the lifeboat and the dinghy taken under tow to Lower Town Quay, where they were met by the coastguard and given suitable advice.
The lifeboat returned to its pen just before 5pm.
