Dear Editor

I’m writing regarding the sale on the open market, of the old primary school and playground in the centre of Narberth.

I understand that Pembrokeshire County Council needs to maximise revenue from the sale, but I strongly object to the sale of the former playground.

It has always been the site of community celebrations and is one of the reasons why Narberth is the jewel in the crown of Pembrokeshire, as stated by a councillor recently.

It is surely the role of those in office to encourage community spirit rather than making it more difficult. If retained it could still be used for much needed parking through the rest of the year.

The playground/parking facility is an asset for the town which should not be forfeited for financial gain.
