Permission is being sought for two new hotels and the extension of another in Pembroke Dock.

Work could begin in the summer on the construction of a multi-million pound hotel in Pembroke Dock's Royal Dockyard, if everything goes according to plan.

Baron Property Developments Ltd has submitted a planning application to Pembrokeshire County Council for a 51-bedroom hotel and restaurant.

A planning application has also been made by Tai Bach Estates for a two-storey travel lodge at the former Kwik Save supermarket car park, in Pier Road, Pembroke Dock.

Planning consent is also being sought by the owners of the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, for a 16-bedroom extension with additional function facilities.

Commenting on the Dockyard Hotel, Mr Anthony Baron, of Baron Property Developments, said: "Cadw wanted us to change some of the things and we have revised the application to meet their requirements so that we have something that is totally in keeping with the Royal Dockyard.

"The hotel will have an adjoining family-sized restaurant, which will be three storeys at the request of the heritage people.

"We hope that the planning application will go through and we can move ahead. We have indications of someone operating the hotel, but we still have a little bit to do." Mr Baron said construction would begin as soon as possible, and this could be in the summer.

"It depends on the council, and once everything is on line we hope to be able to reach an agreement with the operators," he added.

He admitted that earlier indications of grant support being available for the hotel had not been realised.

"Given that it is going to be totally funded out of private resources, it is actually going along a line of being a little more modest, but it is not necessarily a travel lodge," he added.
