Dear Editor, - The contradictions between the letters from Withybush consultants and the chief executive illustrate the dilemma of many NHS hospitals operating under a government desperately and constantly trying to assure us that all is well when the opposite is obviously true.

Withybush needs a chief executive who will stand up to Labour and all its lies and make a stand for the people of Pembrokeshire. Many hospitals elsewhere who take their local obligations seriously have done so, and have gone seriously into debt as a consequence.

Perhaps that is the only way open to committed health professionals, whose primary duty lies with serving their communities and not in meeting absurd government targets.

If Mr Sullivan had resisted government restrictions on car parking designed to force us to use non-existent public transport, he might have some sympathy.

But on his watch we have seen sensible free parking at Withybush reduced catastrophically, by selling parking space for shops and by parking meters, clamping and the like.

Unfortunately for him, this example stands as an easily understood illustration of the problems of trying to please everyone all of the time.
